Wait... four people on every night, and three two-person shifts every day? That's 10 slots to fill each day, not even counting camp guard.
Not sure if that is formatted right, but if it is we're going to run into the same problems as last year.

Still working on the schedule, two years ago we had 3)4 people on duty at night. What killed us last year was 4 people on during the day.

I don't remember having day security for merchants row or camp two years ago, just night security.
Is it really necessary to have someone guarding camp when everybody is up and around? There is always someone in camp, I don't think I've ever seen it empty completely. Even the day we marched out to the field there were a handful that stayed behind.

Three should probably be maximum for night guard... one at each side of merch row and one patrolling.
Morning camp guard shouldn't be very necessary, and even if it is, one person will suffice.
My worry with running morning merchant guard is that 1) we didn't run it two years ago, and that year turned out fine. or 2) it'll turn out like last year with the merchants not watching their own stock and just assuming that since we've got a guy there they can up and leave and then blame us if stock comes up gone.
But if it's needed, it's needed. So long as we get enough people in camp to begin with, since we were quite short last year.

Hold on kids. I wouldn't be posting any sort of schedules to sign up to just yet. We need to figure out what we need first! Can I have a week between Yule & Rag....please?
Jostal...quit being you! ;D

Ok, Update. Back from DagCation. We are currently discussing Schedules. I still like the 1 security shift every other day. If we can get 32 people to volunteer, we wont have a hard time with security shifts like last year. I will also stagger the shifts so you dont have to do the same shift every other day. More information to come...

So, here is my argument.
The benefits of the Empire doing Night Security.
Sweet Camp Spot. (Its pretty awesome) Certain Merchants will not merch at Ragnarok if DU doesnt do Security. i.e. Crafty Celts (/drool) Merchant Loot. The merchants pay us at the end of the week with loot from their stores which we hand out to those deserving as best we can.
The cons of the Empire doing Night Security.
Security shifts can be draining if not managed well. Seems like there are never enough Volunteers. Difficulty scheduling Empire events during Rag. Do we really want to work that much during our Vacation.
There are great reasons on both sides. Now my question to you. Considering the pros and cons, Do you think we should do Security? How many shifts during the week is too much?
Please post or PM me your thoughts.

Night security isn't an issue at all, Rag before last was fine as far as that went.
It's the day shifts that people get drained about, and end up cutting into event/fighting time.

I agree. We bit off more than we could chew last year and suffered for it. We know that now. The main question is are we going to have enough people in camp (since some have departed) to still do security? I would prefer to see camp security suffer to maintain Merchant security and let everyone have a good time

I'm sure we will... A majority of the people who left are those who wouldn't help with stuff anyway.

I would prefer to see camp security suffer to maintain Merchant security and let everyone have a good time I think this is the best way for this as well. We really don't need to have more than one or two people doing camp security, but we can't only have one person on Merchant's Row. I agree with Wilhelm: Three is the magic number.
